One day a man spotted a lamp by the roadside. He picked it up, rubbed it vigorously and a genie appeared. “I’ll grant your fondest wish,” the genie said.  The man thought for a moment, then confessed, “I want a spectacular job… a job no man has ever succeeded in doing or has ever attempted to do.”
“Phff!”  said the genie. “You’re a housewife.”

After I paid for our cinema tickets, my girlfriend went into the auditorium to find our seats while I bought some refreshments.
When I entered the auditorium the lights were down and the previews were being shown.
In the dark, I stumbled to my seat and gave my girlfriend a big kiss.  Then I heard a familiar voice, “John, I’m over here.”

My 21 years of English teaching experience using humour as a principal common denominator has proved to be a great barrier breaker. I have put together "English Conversation Resources" knowing that teachers and students alike will enjoy them to the full. Each edition has many hours of varied conversation activities that need little or no preparation for the teacher, and you can photocopy them again & again.

Two men are sitting at a bar. One starts screaming at the other, “I slept with your mother!” There is a sudden lull in the pub as everyone listens and waits to see what happens next. The first again yells, “Are you deaf? I slept with your mother!!” The other says, “Go home dad you’re drunk.”
Keeping an English conversation class interested and alert can be difficult sometimes.
These resources are designed for that purpose.

Inside each file you will find lots of well chosen questions (Talking Points) about a particular subject to get your students talking.

Also there are humorous stories and jokes (Smilers) that you can easily exploit.

Half Crossword puzzles are very popular with my students. You divide them into teams. Team A & Team B.
Each team has a different half of the crossword.
They take it in turns to ask the opposing team the definition of the words that they do not have.
For example: "Can you give me the definition of 12 down?

Finally, each resource number has a different humorous sketch that I have written so your students can study. along with listening to audio files.

They will be able to hear the music of the English language... The rise and fall of the voice, stress, intonation.

And then you may want to play it.
